The Municipal Chief Executive for New Juaben South in the Eastern Region ,Isaac Appaw -Gyasi has hinted plans to revive “Revenue, Sanitation and Development Control Court to enforce the Assembly By-Laws”.

The decision is part of the broad vision of the MCE who recently assumed office,to restore discipline and sense of responsibility among residents of the municipality to ensure clean environment.

He said the Sanitation Court while ensuring  deterrence ,would also help the Assembly generate revenue from fines imposed on convicts. 

In the interim,the MCE has  engaged various stakeholders to create awareness for his vision ensure good Sanitation ,hygiene and orderliness in the  municipality.Again, he is currently embarking on Community to Community public fora to sensitized the general public as well.

Isaac Appaw- Gyasi addressing Assembly Members at the 1st Session of the Assembly in Koforidua bemoaned that the “municipality continue to bedevilled with herculean task of managing her huge liquid and solid waste generated everyday “as residents continue to engage in improper waste disposal .

4000 LITTER BINS TO BE DISTRIBUTED 

According to the MCE,as part of the long term objective to make the Municipality clean,the Assembly is “working on getting about four thousand litter bins to help in the management of waste in the municipality” .He was hopeful that when this is done “it will help deal with dumping of refuse on streets and other unauthorized places”.
