Some angry  illegal miners On Thursday attacked members of the Inter-Ministerial task force and small-scale miners for arresting  three Chinese accomplices.

The three Chinese nationals were caught mining just at the outskirts of Manso Aponapon of the Amansie South District in the Ashanti Region on December 13,2018 but some suspected accomplices of Ghanaian illegal miners resisted their arrest

Patrick Don Chebe who is Deputy Commander of the Small-Scale Anti-illegal Mining taskforce narrated that “we were attacked with stones which forced the task force personnel to fire warning shots before taking the suspects away.”

He said the illegal miners resisted arrest of the three Chinese Nationals hence took the intervention of reinforcement team who helped to whisk the suspect away.

“Because they were preventing us from arresting these men, we had to call for reinforcement,” he added.

The incident happened barely 24 hours to the lifting of the ban on Small-Scale mining on Friday.

Many environmentalists have raised concerns that scourge of illegal mining may resurface following the lifting of the ban because even despite the ban, many illegal miners including chinese were flouted the ban to clandestinely work.
