Residents of Anum -Apapam in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region have expressed fear open defecation may rife as Senior High School Students in the Anum Apapam Community Day School arrive to begin the 2018/2019 academic year due to absent of a Public toilet facility in the community.
As a Day School, most students rent houses most of which have no toilet facilities hence a Public Toilet Facility was the only option available however, the only Public Toilet facility in the community has been demolished because of its deplorable condition and strong stench as well as leakage of its black water .
The Ayensuano District Assembly is reconstructing a new Toilet facility but at slow pace .The project is still at the foundation level after three months of commencement deepening fear the open defecation currently being experienced will worsen as the students arrive.
Assembly member for Anum Apapam South Electoral Area,Tetteh Andoh shares similar concern with a call on the Ayensuano District Assembly to speed up ongoing re-construction works of the Public Toilet.
He fear there could be outbreak of Cholera if the problem continue to persist.
