A 5-year-old boy has be found in flood  waters, in the Volta regional capital of Ghana,Ho.
This was after 2-hours of heavy downpour  Friday afternoon  which flooded parts of regional capital.
The boy, identified as Nicholas Attah, was retrieved in one of  the open drainage facilities near the Ho Polyclinic, off the Kpetoe road, a distance of about a kilometre  from  the  Goil-down suburb, where he was reportedly drowned.
Mr. Divine Bosson, Volta Regional Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) confirming the incident to the media  said ,  body of the deceased retrieved with the assistance of the personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service, has been deposited at the Regional hospital morgue.
He mentioned Civic centre -YMCA, Dome-Barracks bridge, Ho- Tsiyikpota, among others as some of the worse affected flood areas during the torrential rains on Friday .
Mr. Bisson explained that, the floods obstructed Vehicular traffic flow along the Ho-Kpetoe road as  the flood  waters took over sections of the road.
However, the Regional NADMO chief, after an assessment tour of the affected areas, said the flood waters have since subsided considerably.
Most parts of the country have started recording devastating floods as the rainy season begins. The Ghana Meteorological Agency has forecasted heavy rains this season creating fear among Ghanaians over possible disaster looming due to several anthropogenic activities such as building on water ways ,wetlands and poor drainage systems in most parts of the country .
Floods in Ghana particularly the national capital  is a perrinial problem .Successive governments failed to think outside the box for permanant remedy rather tackled the menace with short term measures .
