Residents of Glefe, a suburb of Accra complained bitterly over flooding in the area during the rainy season and causing many lives and property, Wednesday.
The residents of Glefe are complaining bitterly that, the whole area becomes flooded during the rainy season.
This they said has caused many lives and property. According to them, when it rains, some electronic cables happens to fall into the water, causing many lives especially children.
Speaking in an interview with Akua, a victim who lost her two children last year during the rainy season, said that, it all started when she had gone to the market leaving her two children who happen to be in school by then. She returned from the market only to find these children lying in pool of water dead. To her, an eyewitness said that, he saw the children returned from a provision shop and was going the same rout as him. As soon as they stepped in the water, they shouted. It attracted neighbors who came to rescue but was to no avail. She added.
Speaking to another resident, Emmanuel Mensah said, the buildings are not in a proper arrangement. This he said does not allow free flow. He added.
In an interview with the Assembly man, whose name is not given, said he has started with the road construction and will gradually curb the situation. He added.
However, some residents said, they can’t wait since they are losing many lives and property. They therefore call on government to do something about the situation.
