”  i used to have a lot of friends who helped me in my farming activities, today about 2/3rd of them are dead . They switched to this illegal mining this galamsey thing and I can say on authority that 2/3rd of them are all dead and i am sure it is because of the exposure to poisoning by the chemicals they have been using but when you told them they never believed you ,about 2/3rd of them are dead now the rest don’t look very healthy .so it is not any good activity at all. Those who are gaining from it ,do not get involve in the poisoning of the bodies .The Chinese will be standing up there that know the import of doing the illegal mining  so they don’t get involve they only take the gold  from them “
Mr.Yaw Owusu Addo,a former Director of Radio at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation  said this when speaking to ENA in Koforidua after swearing -in Ceremony of 24 Municipal and District Chief Executives .
