Management of Koforidua  Ghana Senior High School ,GHANASS , in the Eastern of Ghana is appealing to government to install lightening arrester to mitigate disasters caused by lightening in the school.

According to the school Authorities ,the location of the School ,is a lightning zone hence at high risk of lightening disaster.
The Headmaster of GHANASS,Very Rev.Abraham Osei Donkor ,said this when addressing the media after  launching the 75th anniversary of the School on Saturday.
The headmaster recounted that, some students were struck dead by lightening in the 1980’s and in 2016, triggered a fire outbreak at a girls dormitory , a clear indication that, the area needs lightening arrester to protect students and  residents in that Lightening zone .
“history tells us that ,the school is in lightening zone and i’m told that in the 80’s some students were struck down by lightening in the Catholic school just behind us ,and last year ,we also had this lightening disaster . so this area needs a lightening arrester which will protect the entire community and those within so I am using this medium to appeal so  our authorities give ear to this ,lightening is something that nobody can control ,we have seen one we have seen two and if we don’t take caution and the third one comes, posterity will not spare us”.The headmaster said.
The theme for the 75th  anniversary packed with activities throughout the year is ” 75 years of Senior High Education:Expectations of Stakeholders “.The headmaster stressed that, adequate measures have been taken by the school to avert the recent toppled tree incident which killed a student and injured many others.
On other challenges, the headmaster  said ,despite the enviable academic feats of the institution over the years, it is saddled inadequate infrastructural challenges which must be improved before government rolls out the Free Senior High School education policy to avert crises.
He said ,the school has been compelled to cut down admission for fresh students due to infrastructure deficit .
The headmaster appealed to stakeholders particularly parents , old students and corporate organizations support the 75th Anniversary celebration aim at seeking improvement in quality education
