The Study of Climate Change has received a major boost in Ghana following introduction of a two -year Master of Philosophy and Master of Science Degree in Climate Change and Natural Resources Management programme by the CSIR-College of Science and Technology (CCST) located in Accra.
The Programme is tailored to churn out Professionals and experts in Climate Change and Natural resources management to help address challenges of climate change and natural resources depletion in the sub-region for a sustainable development .
Dr.Mark Appiah ,Deputy General Coordinator of Climate Change Programme explained ,the programme is available to people working in the natural resources sector in particular ,forest management sector.
The detail of the programme provided include Climate Science,Climate Change Impact,Geographical Information System , Project management ,Scientific Communication,Climate Change Modelling.Adaptation and Mitigation as well as Sustainable Utilization of Bio-materials.
Dr.Appiah stated ,students would undertake one-year intensive theory and another year for industrial attachment and thesis.
The debilitating effect of Climate Change,has led to global concern with the United Nations facilitating efforts by Member Countries to work towards mitigating impact of Climate Change .In Africa,climate change has become a major threat to Agricultural sector which is a major source of livelihood for majority of the Populace on the continent.
